Restoration House of Northern Michigan
Home. Hope. Healing.

Our Mission
Home. Hope. Healing.
The mission of Restoration House of Northern Michigan is to provide a safe and supportive home for young women at high risk of abuse, exploitation, and trafficking as they either age out of the foster care system, face homelessness, suffer from domestic abuse, or need an alternative to an unsable living situation. Our goal is that every young woman who comes to Restoration House will heal from past trauma and be empowered with the relationships, skills, tools, and resources she needs to pursue a healthy adult life. While we are a faith-based organization and believe that healing ultimately comes through Jesus Christ, women of all backgrounds will be welcomed.
Current Initiatives
Creating Lasting Impact
Safe Housing
Because safe and affordable housing is fundamental to human well-being, Restoration House plans to house up to eight young women at a time in the home purchased in Cheboygan. Each resident will have her own smaller or a shared larger bedroom, with residents sharing the home's bathroom facilities.
Education and Personal Skill Development
RH plans to provide:
-
Support for formal education so that residents can finish high school or earn GEDs, as well as begin college classes.
-
Skill-based training in a number of areas essential to healthy adulthood.
Recovery through Spiritual, Mental, and Emotional Health
Each woman will help create her own individualized plan for restoration and sign a contract with Restoration House staff to formalize her individual goals.
Funding
The Restoration House of Northern Michigan plans to pursue two primary sources of funding: grant funding and donations of individuals and organizations. Major costs will include ongoing maintenance and care of the home, ongoing monthly expenses to house each resident (including food, utilities, and other necessities), staffing expenses, and program-related expenses.
Desired Outcomes
Each woman who enters Restoration House will leave as a fully prepared young adult who is:
-
Educated and trained for work life/ career
-
Knowledgeable in managing her finances, home, and life
-
Relationally, emotionally, and spiritually healthy enough to embrace the joys and challenges of her adult life, enjoy healthy relationships, and live out her full purpose.
Skill Development
Empowering young women with essential skills and knowledge is at the core of our mission. We provide training programs, educational workshops, and mentorship opportunities to equip them with the tools needed to thrive independently.
